Retour de Sr Marista sur les Journées Mondiales de la Jeunesse
Sr Marista in Panamá for the World Youth Day
January 17 - 29, 2019
On the eve of January 16th, 2019, the adventure of Sr. Marista and 5 girls from the diocese of Carcassonne began. They traveled with other young people from the province of Montpellier to participate in the 34th World Youth Day in Panamá.
Alain Planet, the bishop of Carcassonne, gave a special blessing to the small diocesan group before its departure, he encouraged the young pilgrims to return back as missionaries.
For the event of WYD, from 22 to 27 January, millions of young people are expected to gather, around Pope Francis, in the capital city, but our small group will already start sharing the life of a parish community in Pocrí de Los Santos (the center of the country) from 17 to 21 January; with the aim of building bridges of fraternal communion. The families of the place will host them.
Pope Francis, in this month of January, invites the whole Church to pray with and for for the youth:
You young people have, in the Virgin Mary, a reason for joy and a source of inspiration.
Take advantage of the World Youth Day in Panamá to contemplate Christ together with Mary. We will pray the Rosary together for peace, each of us in our own language.
And ask for strength to dream and to work for peace.
Let us pray that young people, especially in Latin America, follow the example of Mary and respond to the call of the Lord to communicate the joy of the Gospel to the world.
With joy and trust in the unlimited resources that can bring together the young people, gathered in the name of the Lord, we make our own the intention of Pope Francis and pray that this meeting may contribute to bringing fruit of peace for the whole world, and particularly for this part of globe, Central America, where millions of people suffer poverty and marginalization.
