The testimony of Sr. M. Veronica Babirye Nanaku on her first religious profession of vows (28th of October, 2017) in the community of Namugongo, Uganda after her Novitiate in St. Josephine Bakhita International Novitiate for Africa, Nigeria.
I heartily thank God, who in my ordinariness has bestowed on me the big gift of religious life, in the congregation of the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena. I thank Him, who in His infinite mercy and fidelity has strengthened my baptismal promises by consecrating me to himself in love regardless of my strengths and limitations.
Indeed, it has not been my strength just as St. Paul writes to the Corinthians, “Consider your call brethren; not many of you were wise according to the worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth, but God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, He chose the weak to shame the strong, He chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God”. (1 Cor 1:26-29).
On this special day of my first religious profession, a day of rejoicing, happiness and celebration far beyond telling, God has espoused me and made me one of his brides. I feel happy, glad and proud to belong to this big family of St. Dominic, Mother Gerine and St. Catherine of Siena. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me, it is no longer Veronica but Sr. M. Veronica Babirye Nanaku op, to God be the Glory.
I thank the entire Dominican family, my biological family and all my friends for your tender love, care, support and prayers.
Sr. M. Veronica Babirye Nanaku (Uganda - Namugongo)
